Week1:
I missed out on Research Project in the previous week due to a confusion with my timetable. I thought I was enrolled in doing Research Project in Semester2 until I was told everyone was meant to be doing Research Project in Semester1. Therefore I have a handful of work to catch up with but I believe I will manage maybe with one weekends worth of extention time and of course I will negotiate this with my subject teacher. I know I probably missed out on important introductions and instructions but with the help of friends and my teacher I should be able to catch up with everyone fairly quickly. I have thought about the possibilities in which I would consider to take in as my research topic. A few of them were: mood swings (based on both sex), Facebook (social network), the human body parts (based on both sex), Illuminati (an American organisation), food effects (short and long-term effects), heels (every woman needs a pair of heels) and lastly people's appearance (their confidence level). At the moment I'm settling in with mood swings as my research topic but I might change to something I'm more interested in if I can think of any.

Week2:My Introduction- My hypothesis: "Females tend to have more mood swings than males." Mood swing is defined as being an alternation of a person's emotional state between periods of euphoria and depression.Euphoria- A feeling of great happiness or well-being.Depression- A mental state of altered mood characterized by feelings of sadness, despair, and discouragement.
Guiding&Focus Questions:
1. Females are more emotional than males therefore they're more likely to have more mood swings.
2. Why do us humans get mood swings? What are the causes for them and who are the ones more likely to have them?
3. Which sex has a higher percentage for mood swing occurance? Daily, weekly or monthly?
4. What are the kinds of support in which people who have mood swings can get? Also what activities could prevent or decrease mood swings?

CHANGING TOPIC TO "self-esteem". negotiated with teacher= yes
By the end of week2 I had changed my topic to self-esteem.

My Hypothesis: "People are more confident when they look their best".

Self-esteem: Self-esteem is pride in oneself, self-respect.
Confidence: Confidence is belief in yourself, positive attitude and no doubts.
Appearance: Appearance is the looks/features of a person.

My Research Project Proposal:
I have chosen to research on self-esteem because I believe that it's an important part of us. My topic question/hypothesis is "People are more confident when they look their best". My topic question will allow me to interact with unfamiliar people which is the main reason why I chose it.This is something I've thought about for a while and took in to deep consideration because I was really keen about the idea, proposed by a friend of mine. I enjoy experimenting with make up& love updating on my fashion. This could advantage myself to help others feel more better about their appearances through the make over and by make over I do not mean 'extreme make over' with plastic surgery etc... This is just a mini make over with make up, hair-do and clothes. I would really like to hear what the person feels after the transformation even if I get bad feedback. I am looking forward to start researching and getting into my whole project because it is something I'm keen and interested in. Something that will not bore myself yet help me have a deeper understanding and new knowledge for this topic.
What I'm planning to do is pull off a make over for a male&female student, all expenses paid by myself. This make over will include a before& after photo. A recording or snippets of the process and along with an essay which will be counted in my ATAR score and for University. I have already made up my mind to submit my ending project with choice B because it effects my ATAR. I will try to ask students who I'm unfamiliar with and will try not to offend them with the make-over idea. I will explain to them what I am doing in my research project class and hopefully they will understand and accept. Which is a part of my ethical considerations. I will have no threats or forcing, pure understanding and appreciation. They have the rights to reject or accept.
The resources which I've considered to help with my research are: magazine articles, online forums, surveys, books from my school library and by interviewing random people. With online sources I will try to have updated and appropriate information. I will also use the Harvard referencing system to reference my resources and findings. For books I will negotiate with my teacher to go have a look during a lesson or ask the teacher to assist me in finding some helpful books because she's a librarian at our school. The capabilities which best matches my learning styles are personal development and citizenship. Personal development best matches my learning style because I enjoy given opportunities to explore and or to develop new knowledge and skills on my own. I also match in the capabilities for citizenship because I like to listen to others and take in their point of views and opinions and I also acknowledge, appreciate and understand other people rights. This is the reason for my choice on the capabilities in which I'll be covering in my research project. I'll be focusing on personal development and citizenship but I will also have a go at the other capabilities.
I've highlighted the capabilities in which I'll be trying to cover in my research project in the following linked document below:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

My above proposal would've covered what topic I am doing, why I chose it, how I'm going to research it, ethics, capabilities, feelings, resources and who I'll

be asking to volunteer to participate in my research project (make over). Hopefully the two students I have in mind accepts otherwise I will ask for volunteers in my class(:

Guiding&Focus Questions:
1. People tend to open up more to others or are more confident when they're looking their best.

2. Why does a person's sex appeal and appearance matter so much to majority of people in this world. Is this the cause and influence of media and commercial advertisements?

3. What percentage of people have low self-esteem due to their appearance.

4. What are the things people can do to boost up their confidence& self-esteem?

5. Starting off a day by looking good gives a positive attitude to the rest of day. What percentage of people would agree with this?

Week3:
EBSCO articles related to my topic:

Article1: http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?hid=119&sid=a34c29a4-438c-4a7a-8ca2-4e537bdadda1%40sessionmgr110&vid=1&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#db=anh&AN=33732997
I chose this article because it presented views on women who've overcome their low self-esteem. I wanted to see their views and what they felt to see what they went through because I'd like to have a deeper understanding of what people's self-esteem can do and can affect the person to what extent. The person in this article tells us to focus on our goals and to not care about what other people say about you. This article includes scenarios in which the women experienced and also what they felt during the experience and what support they had.

Article2: http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?hid=119&sid=a4bcc5ff-cf60-4c6d-a39f-17c55d09366d%40sessionmgr115&vid=1&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#db=anh&AN=15285947
This article particularly caught my attention straight from the title "Exploding The Self-Esteem Myth". In this article it tells us how self-esteem can affect the academic progress of people and on behavioral changes. It also includes psychological health backgrounds and proposes the self-esteem affects on people and health.

Article3: http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?hid=119&sid=24eab953-f10c-47b1-880a-34f64c323712%40sessionmgr110&vid=1&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#db=anh&AN=56552178
I chose this article because not only does it relate to my topic but also focuses a lot on teenagers and as I am a teenager I feel more drawn into it. It also includes many ways to help have a more positive attitude. There is a list of activities in this article which I think will help me understand what are the ways which can help and support. Also I may also use this to advise my friends or even myself at times.

Article4: http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?hid=119&sid=5a0a90f8-8b21-4365-87e4-ab5c8b89f8d8%40sessionmgr110&vid=1&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#db=anh&AN=52896495
This article focuses on people in workplaces and their behaviors. It tells us about speaking up and credibility. This is something I'd like to research further on about because it relates to my topic. Speaking up is a part of self-esteem. In order to speak up you'll require a bit of confidence and having low self-esteem would affect it. This article will help me see the scenarios and relate to the main issues.

Article5: http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?hid=119&sid=75fd18d6-024b-4432-aa7f-7b6994c36e07%40sessionmgr112&vid=1&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#db=anh&AN=45279763
I chose this article because it explored a bit of everything relating to my topic. Including: self-esteem, body image, community and school, education and social change.

Thanks to the teacher for sharing this site with us. These articles will now become a useful part and source for my research project.

This week we also had to work on our proposal which I've completed as above in week2. Therefore now I am visiting some sites on the home page like "moodle", CRAP site for referencing and pretty much reading through related articles for my topic and jotting down notes. This week had been fairly tiring and built up with schedules but I'm hoping to manage, cope, do better and do well throughout the upcoming weeks of school.

Week4:
Today we had a representative from the education department visit our class to listen to our feelings towards the Research Project compulsory stage2 subject. I honestly was frustrated listening to few of my classmates complaining that the Research Project wasn't well structured when clearly on the home page of our wikispace has all the details for what we're meant to be doing each week, deadlines and links to helpful sites to guide us. We also have a teacher for a reason. It's obvious that they haven't paid enough attention. I believe that by doing this Research Project it will definitely benefit myself in the future, the reason being is I'm planning to go to University and I know in University there will be a lot of independent work and research where you'll have to reference etc... And by far this subject has helped me gain the skills to do so. I've learnt how to reference different sources properly and research on what I want to research on. It really is an overall advantage, people really should be appreciating.

Here is my constructed concept map.

5 Ways to Evaluate the Credibility of a Website:
So we've been looking at ways to find the credibility of a website during class times with the teacher. These are 5 ways which I've learnt.

1.Date of Publication/currency. Is the information current? When was it last updated and how recent is the published work?
2.Authorship, does the author show evidence of authority in the provided information? Publisher should also be noted.
3.The quality of the work and the site format. Information should be easy to find.
4.Links: is it relevant to the topic on the site?
5.Domain types i.e. .com, .org, .edu, .net, .int etc... This should be located at the end of each URL. It helps to determine where information was from i.e .com is commercial and .org is organisation.

Week5:
5 Whys:
Why is self-esteem so important?
Self-esteem is important because it is something which can advantage you in being happier.

Why would having a low self-esteem be a negative?
Having low self-esteem is a negative thing because you are not able to do anything such as: speaking up for your rights, saying no/yes, being happy about yourself without having to care about others judgements.

Why would self-esteem affect us as individuals?
Self-esteem can affect us as individuals because it can affect you in many ways including your behavior, education, future, social life and happiness.

Why can't many people overcome low self-esteem?
Many people can't overcome low self-esteem because they believe they can't overcome obstacles and that they "can't do it".

Why is self-esteem a bigger issue for teenagers?
Teenagers is a stage where we are growing into young adolescents therefore self-esteem would become a big issue. The reason being is in the future, having interviews and getting employed would require good and descent self-esteem in order to speak and present yourself well.

Week6:This week we were told to make a negotiated time with the teacher for the discussion interview held next week. I've been working on gathering all my information I've gathered so far. Also my notes, evidence, printing out my proposal and plans as for evidence. I also went to the library earlier this week to borrow some books on my topic and the teacher recommended me a really good one. I am currently reading through them thoroughly and jotting down notes. I am working my way to asking people or and volunteers for my project. AM VERY EXCITED!
Week7:This week had gone by really fast, I haven't had the chance to go see the teacher therefore in this lesson I will negotiate to have my discussion interview next Monday. I have gathered all my materials in a folder. I've practised with friends interviewing each other using the guide question sheet we received from the teacher. What I plan to bring to the interview is all my work done in the past weeks. Including printed out surveys, my proposal to refer back on, list of the sources I've been using or the actual source i.e articles, books, videos etc... My notes, gathered information, evidence and any relevant work towards my research project. During the interview I plan to discuss about everything, which is my topic, what am I doing, what I plan to do and what I've already done, show my evidence of work and gathered resources. I will also ask my interviewer questions maybe for example: "What ways do you think I could improve in my research." "What do you think of my topic?" "Can you help me find some other sources so I can explore a variety of sources?" "What is required from me to pass or achieve an A grade?" Right now thinking about the idea of an interview isn't really frightening or nerve racking but I probably will feel a bit nervous when I get interviewed.

Week8:Due to having to go to an excursion two days in row for two different subjects had cause me to delay my discussion to next week.
Week9
This week I will definitely be getting my discussion over and done with as I have booked a time in lesson one on Friday to do so.
During this week I got taught the DLSOPE for the Research Project.
D- define
L- locate
S- select
O- organize
P- presentation
E- evaluation
This is a brief guide for the Research Project. It is easy to remember and also easy to understand. Define what topic you would like to do. Locate your sources and information. Select appropriate, useful, relevant and credible information to use in the Research Project. Organize what steps you're going to take, what you're going to do, how, where and when. Also organizing together your gathered information and evidence of work. Present the Research Project and evaluate.
In today's lesson I spoke to my subject teacher on what I needed to do because I was concerned about my topic being pended. Turns out I just needed to re-work on my proposal and talk more about my methodology.
